Transforming lives thru the Word of God
Forgiveness is a Healing Agent! We all have heard the word Forgiveness. Each of us have had situations where we needed to forgive someone for either an action or words that were shared. Depending on the situation, determines the degree of how challenging it was to forgive.
Forgiveness does not always come easy and can be very challenging! When there was a reason or need for you to forgive someone, did you ever think about it as an opportunity? Think of a time you were hurt or mishandled pretty deeply. Did you ever take the time to see this situation as an opportunity of growth? An opportunity for you as well as the individual who caused the pain or completed the offense to grow in love, humility, and spiritually?
Matthew 6:14-15 says:
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses:
I don't think we really think about the above scripture in the heat of the pain, disappointment or frustration when someone hurts us or does wrong by us. Read that scripture again, and let it sink in. Basically, if you are not willing to forgive, you plan to live a perfect life from that point forward. In other words, you will have no reason to need forgiveness because you will be perfect. Wait, can we be perfect? See when people hurt you, or do wrong by you, it is a grand opportunity for you to exemplify love and allow yourself to be healed of hurt, bitterness and anger. You are also giving the individual who caused you harm an opportunity to grow as well by extending forgiveness to them. When that forgiveness is released, both parties stand in a position of opportunity if given and received correctly.
